Creating a safe place

Creating a safe place

At New Leaf, we love supporting our patients with their health in accessible ways, our Group Consults and Shared Appointments provide a safe and inclusive space – we want you to feel comfortable, which is why you’ve been sent a confidentiality agreement to sign to protect yours and the other patient’s privacy.

We also have some kind & considerate ground rules, which we want you to take a few minutes to read so you understand your role in creating these informative and thriving naturopathic appointments.

New Leaf Group Consult & Shared Appointments Ground Rules

  • Please log in to Zoom 5 minutes before the start of your first group consultation to ensure you are able to log in and connect. You will be placed in a virtual waiting room.
  • A cancellation policy applies. If you must miss a session or will be late, please call the clinic on 0402 191 049 or email sophia@new-leaf.com.au
  • If you are not using it to attend, please turn your mobile phone off during the group consultations so that you can be fully present and get the most out of the session without distraction.
  • Please mute your microphone when not speaking and feel free to use ‘reactions’ (e.g. raise hand function, if you would like to speak and are not sure when to jump in).
  • Maintain confidentiality by not repeating or discussing anything that is said in the group consultations with people who are not participating in the program.
  • If you are having trouble hearing what is being said, or understanding, please let the facilitator know or ask the speaker to clarify what they have said.
  • Exchanging contact details with other people in the group is okay, however please ensure you respect one another’s boundaries around type and frequency of contact outside the groups.
  • Take bathroom breaks at any stage as there will be no scheduled breaks.
  • Please make yourself as comfortable as possible, wear comfortable clothes and feel free to bring a heat pack, snacks or any other item/s that will make you feel more comfortable (e.g. blanket, hot drink).
  • During the groups, please do your best to listen with full attention (to the group leaders and to other participants). The benefits of group consults come not only from your own “check-in” but from hearing the experiences of others too.
  • Please refrain from having private discussions while the group is running (e.g. in the chat box) but please feel free to share ideas/resources in the chat box if you wish.
  • Please do speak from your own experience (e.g. things that have and haven’t worked for you) but please don’t give advice (as this is the role of the naturopathic practitioner). Different things will and won’t work for different people.
  • Practice active listening – this is a non-judgemental space. Be kind. Know that others experiences will be different to yours and that’s ok. Be brave – nothing is off the table, this is a safe space
